A practical treatise on mechanical dentistry . s form of flask, introduced bythe Buffalo Dental Manufacturing Co., is an improvement uponthe Bailey Flask for making dies ; the top part, which forms the METALLIC DIES AND COUNTER-DIES. 161 zinc die, being entirely new in shape and purpose. By the use ofthis flask, the metal in the die is concentrated above it, so that ithas no outside bearing upon the counter-die; thus overcomingwhat is to many dentists a serious objection to dies producedwith the ordinary flasks or rings, viz., the bearing of the dieupon the counter, outside of the model, preventing the driving ofthe former into the latter as it yields in swaging, unless themethod suggested by Dr. Broomell on page 169 employed. Indies produced by the Lewis Flask, the bearing of the die uponthe counter is limited to the model, and a more perfect adaptationcan be secured between it and the plate. With this flask a thinmodel can be used, at the same time all the advantages of theold-fashioned, thick, or built-up model secured. Fig. 66.
