A wild, non captive water vole, Arvicola amphibius, on the banks of the Dorset Stour River in Gillingham Dorset England UK GB in April. The population of water voles in the UK has dropped dramatically in recent years. The water vole can be seen here on the riverbank which is close to houses. They are also known as the european, or northern, water vole.
