An Israeli soldier walks past the seperation barrier which runs along and deeply cuts into Palestinian land. Scrawled on the wall behind it says, "Killing Palestinians isn't Kosher." The wall is apart of the Qalandia military checkpoint, an Israeli checkpoint near the entrance of Ramallah, a palestinian city in the West Bank. Protests ensued in various West Bank cities on Friday. At Qalandia checkpoint, the Israeli military checkpoint at the entrance of the Palestinian city of Ramallah, Israeli soldiers were quick to fire volleys of tear gas at Palestinian youth who protested, as well as firing tear gas into nearby homes and businesses. Israeli soldiers also deliberately targeted photo-journalists and reporters, at one point directly firing tear gas canisters at them. Israeli forces also used live fire ammunition at Qalandia checkpoint. Two Palestinian youths were hit by bullets from Israeli forces. Across the West Bank, a number of injuries were reported during the afternoon, including an international activist from Italy. The man was shot several times in the stomach and chest by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank town of Kafr Qaddum during a solidarity protest with Palestinians. His condition was listed as critical. The continued violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem has been persistent since the deadly attack on a West Jerusalem Synagogue by two Palestinian men, which left four Rabbis and one Israeli police officer dead. The families of the suspects have been given demolition order for both their homes, though late this week the Israeli Supreme Court has delayed the demolitions and will hear the appeal of both families in the coming days. Since the attack, tit-for-tat attacks both by Palestinians and Israelis on one another have become a common occurrence in Jerusalem, especially in the Old City quarters.
