The suppression of the pro Royalist uprising on the streets of Paris on the 5th October 1795 (the 13th of Vendemiare in the Revolutionary calendar). A young general Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the troopsto fire grapeshot onto the crowds on the steps of teh church of Saint Roch on rue St Honoré, Paris.
