Head of a mature, bearded & tonsured monk or cleric, carved on a misericord of the oak choir stalls in the chancel of Beaumaris parish church, Anglesey, Wales, UK. The stalls of c 1500 may have been moved to Beaumaris from Llanfaes Friary (Grey Friars) when the Franciscan house was dissolved. Each underseat features a carved human face or bust either side of a demi-angel with wings half-spread & holding a blank shield. The carvings present a gallery of late Medieval types, characters & occupations. There are 12 original late medieval/Tudor carvings plus 8 replicas. Numbering the seats clockwise from nearest to altar on S, across aisle & back to nearest on N, this head is on the L side of misericord 8 on S side.
