Ekdtdla has been rendered into fand also f; and either of these readings is equally incorrect. Themelody here given appears to contradict the tala, but when sung itwould scarcely convey more than an effect of slight variation uponit. No attempt has hitherto been made to indicate the moreelaborate talas in European notation. The difficulty of singinga melody against the eccentric regularity of Tala Ara will beappreciated by musicians. The melody is here noted as in theHindu record without reference to bar-beats; the position of eachbeat being indicated by the tala-notation. Section X.—Hindu Talas and Melodies.* Tala Thoongree.
