France, Somme (80), Saint-Riquier, Saffron harvest at Fabrice Houdant's Safran du Scardon in Saint-Riquier. Fabrice started growing saffron, the most expensive spice in the world (€40 a gram), two years ago. He planted 50,000 bulbs in August and is now harvesting the of pruning, which consists of keeping only the red pistils that make up the much sought-after spice. In love with his product, Fabrice never ceases to praise its beauty and taste, and savours the pleasure of breathing in the scent of fresh saffron.
