Col. Kimberly Peeples, commander and district engineer of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, visits employees of the Bill Young Lock & Dam operated by the Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District on the Allegheny River in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, April 13, 2022. Two mechanics and a lock operations leader have been working together on a project to replace more than 700 feet of hydraulic pipes that will save the district more than $150,000 in contracted costs. The hydro lines control the opening and closing of gates and valves for lock operations.
