The principal treatment is hygienic, viz., living inthe open air, good ventilation, sea baths, gymnastics, and nourishingdiet; but the local affections are always submitted to energetic treat-ment, and many (both large and small) operations are performed inthe course of the year. The average stay of each child at thehospital has been 240—260 days, and the results may be said to bevery satisfactory; of the patients treated in 1889, 57*8 per cent, were discharged cured, and 30*5 per cent, in a much improved 015.
