The paratypes lack this loop which, however, was common among M. cfr. irani from Iran. In 7 geogra- phic samples of M cfr. irani the incidence of the accessory loop on the 2nd upper molar varied between (Tehran) and 100% (western Azerbaijan) (median = ).
