This flight of step was built on the south-eastern side of the hill leading to the summit, with a difference in height between the top and the bottom of about 16 m. The stairway was 70m long and 4m wide. On the side facing the ravine it was supported by a retaining wall built over the tombs of the Roman cemetery.
