Retailers say tliat funeral work comprises about all the demand at their stores. However, the season has been good and no one is complaining. Roses sliow the effects of the hot weather and few consignments from outside arrive in first-class condition. Local carnations are ])oor, but some good stock is being sliijtped in. There is an abundance of gladioli, which have brought a fair price, but a glut soon is expected. Sweet peas are about done. Other stock arriving consists of as- ters, cornflowers, calendulas, candy- tuft and larkspurs. There is little call for any of them except asters.
