U Turmstraße , Underground U-Bahn Railway Station serves U9 line opened on August 28 1961,Moabit-Mitte, Berlin The station, designed by Bruno Grimmek, has a central platform and the walls have light blue tiles. The column tiles form colourful pictures and the ‘butterfly ceiling’ is typical of stations on the former line G. It is located under the Kleiner Tiergarten park between the Turmstraße shopping street and Alt -Moabit street and the installation of an elevator in 2020 made it barrier free. The train station is 675 meters from Birkenstrasse underground station and 919 meters from Hansaplatz underground station The BVG U-Bahn company school and the control centre for monitoring and switching the traction current in the U-Bahn network are in the immediate vicinity.
