For several yearshe was a member of various stockcompanies. In 1835 he becameleading comedian at the theatre. New Orleans,where he remained for eightyears, and where he became agreat favorite. In 1843 he be-came a member of the companyplaying at Mitchells Olympic,New York, and for six years. took a leading part in the come-dies and burlesques that madethat play-house famous. Upon leaving the Olym-pic he became low comedian in the company ofthe elder Wallack, and, with the exception oftwo brief intervals, remained a member of thisorganization until 1869.
