James Glynn cuts the first piece of cake as part of a Marine Corps Birthday tradition during a pageant Nov. 7, 2018, on Parris Island, The first piece of cake is given to the oldest Marine present and then handed down to the youngest as a symbol of passing on traditions and history of the Marine Corps. Each year Marines put on a birthday pageant along with a ball in celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday which is Nov. 10, 1775.
