PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 1, 2022) – Fire Controlman 2nd Class Thomas Smits, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, stands next to a close-in weapon system during an ammunition upload aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) while operating in the Philippine Sea, Sept. 1. Barry is assigned to Commander, Task Force 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
