In addition, Bei-Munithu sent an insulting andthreatening message to the effect that If the Wasunguthemselves came to the door of his house with their guns,he would not give up the loads! Jumbi also reported that food was extremely plentiful inboth Munithu and Mthara, but the inhabitants of thoseplaces, acting under instructions from their chiefs, pointblank refused to sell us any.
