Impressive architecture in the old part of Embourios village, in the inland of Santorini island, Cyclades, Greece

Crossing the modern part of Embourios village in the south side of Santorini (12 km from Fira, the "capital" of the island), doesn't make much of impression. But if you go deeper in the heart of the village, in the old part, it's a totally different story! The medieval, fortified settlement (the "Castelli"), hides some real architectonic jewels and a beautiful church, Panagia Messiani, of the 16th century! Very close to Embourios village, you can also find some beautiful beaches, such as Vlyhada, Perivolos and Perissa.
