To our knowledge only two reports of growths on urchins have been published. Strachan (1969) reported Balanus tintinnabulum cali- fornicus Pilsbry living on Lytechinus anam< sit* II. L. Clark. Boolootian (1958) reported the same species of barnacle living on the red sea urchin. Strangylocentrotus franciscanus (Agassiz). The attachment of B. cmu-am* pacificus to S. purpuratus represents Hie first report of any barnacle attaching to 8. purpuratus. It also represents the first report of B. concavus pacificus attaching to any urchin. Strongyloci ntrotus franciscanus has been reported in the litera- ture as harboring the barnacle B. tintinnabulum califomicus.
