Chinese Lanterns at the Montreal Botanical Gardens. Quebec - Canada. The Garden of Mythical Creatures is a magical place filled with stories of ancient people, myths, legends and mythical creatures. The Qilin is a mythical Chinese creature known in lots of East Asian cultures, and is believed to emerge when a wise sage or an illustrious king arrives or passes away. The Qilin can breathe fire to punish the wicked. One of the many types of Unicorn from ancient Chinese belief, the Kai Tsi is said to resemble a lion with one horn protruding from its head.
