The Wyre Majestic a Trawler out of Fleetwood in Lancashire ran aground here on the 18th October 1974 after striking rocks at Rubha a,Mhil. Attempts by a sister ship and also the Port Asking lifeboat to reflect her failed. Skipper and Bosun were subsequently found to be at fault.
