There- fore, for the red currant, prune to retain the two- and three-year wood and for the black currant prune with the object of obtaining one-year wood. The main difference in culture is that the bush of the black currant grows a little higher, and hence the rows and the plants should be farther apart. There are many varieties of black currants grown on the experiment station grounds and by nurserymen. The more common of these varie- ties are Black Champion, Crandall, and Fig. 250.—Currant worms.
