Alexander the Great


Alexander the Great (356-323 ) was the son of Philip II. He was the king of Macedon from 336 to 323 Considered one of the greatest generals of all time, he conquered and ruled land from Macedonia and Greece in the west, to India in the east. This bust of the world conqueror, known as the Azara herm, is housed in the Louvre in Paris, France. It is a Roman copy of the original most probably by the Greek sculptor Lysippus and is the only known portrait commissioned by Alexander himself.
