Penniless Porch is located between the Cathedral and the market square and it is traditionally where people begged for alms. Bishop Bekynton (1390-1465)was secretary to Henry VI and appointed Lord Privy Seal until 1444. He was consecrated Bishop of Bath and Wells in 1443.
