John Parker Smith is a member anddeacon of the North (Congregational)church and is also superintendent of theSunday-school at that church. He isa member of Winnipiseogee Lodge ofOdd Fellows, and is one of Laconiasmost successful merchants, and he de-serves the success which he hasattained, for he follows his businessvery closely, and is noted for hissquare dealing. Like his predecessor in the sameestablishment, Mr. Smith takes pridein keeping in stock almost anythingand everything which a customer couldpossibly ask for in a general store, and. John Parker Smith. the establishment can always respondto a qall for anything from gum dropsto grindstones or yeast cakes to a baleof hay. Mr. Smith is progressive andup-to-date in his methods, is a liberaladvertiser and constantly improving hisfacilities. He has recently remodeledthe interior of the Old Corner Store,and added a modem plate-glass showwindow which projects from the frontof the building its entire width.
