At nineteen years of age, necommenced the practice of success was rapid and aston-ishing. It is said that threemonths had not elapsed ere therewas scarcely a case on the dock-I et of the court in which he was retained. When but twenty-one years of age, hewas almost unanimously ejected to a seat in the StateLegislature.
