It is for this reason that in many states in the Union, strict laws to protect insect-eating birds have been enacted by the legis- latures; and it is beginning to be seen that great edu- cational campaigns like that of The People's Home Journal are needed to awaken popular thought to conserve the wild bird life of America in the interests of economic food production. Few persons realize how much insect food is daily consumed by birds.
