The bridge over the south branch of the same river, Fig. 4,100-foot span, was unlike all the others in having both levers andarches above the roadway. It had separate chords for arch andlever and provision for expansion. I have no record of the lifeof this bridge. A highway bridge, Figs. 5 and 6, was erected at West Con-cord, Mass., over the Assabet River in 1869, and was in use as lateas 1899, when it was replaced by a concrete arch designed by R. Worcester, who can tell the condition of the old bridge afterthirty years service. M
