He was com-missioned captain of the militia in that town, and receivedan honorable discharge. June 19, 1847, he removed toSaco, Me., and commenced working at his trade for theSaco Water-Power Company. Jan. 10, 1848, he removedto Biddeford, where he continued his occupation, workingby the day and upon contract, having from one to twentymen in his employ.
