Supporters watching the action in front of the tea bar during the first-half of the Boxing Day derby match between Runcorn Town and visitors Runcorn Linnets at the Pavilions, Runcorn, in a top-of the table North West Counties League premier division match. Runcorn Linnets won 1-0 and overtook their neighbours at the top of the league in a game watched by 803 spectators. Runcorn Linnets were a successor club to Runcorn FC, one of England foremost non-League clubs of the 1970s and 1980s.
