Ber-berine is described under its own title, and xanthopuccine resemblesberberine, but gives brown instead of green scales with test-solution ofiodine (see Berberine). Medicinal Uses.—Bitter tonic and stomachic. It has also beenrecommended in. derangements of the urinary organs and as a remedyin dysmenorrhoea and uterine hemorrhage.
