The Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum at Pier 86 was flooded by waters from the Hudson River when Hurricane Sandy hit three years ago. The flooding damaged the visitor's center, electrical systems and the Space shuttle pavilion. The original pavilion has been replaced with this stronger steel structure. Funding from FEMA's Public Assistance and Mitigation programs helped to restore this cultural and historic New York Hurricane Sandy.
