Cage from coal mine forming a memorial or monument to Easington Colliery miners, north east England UK


Monument to the miners of Easington Colliery coal mine. The monument consists of a path climbing to the top of a hill where there stands a cage of the type used to carry miners up and down the mine shaft. Along the path is a series of plaques marking a time-line from the opening to the closure of the pit. The monument is visible and accessible from the England Coast Path (ECP) that passes nearby.
