Rhynchophanes mccowni (Lawrenee) McCoWN LONGSPIIR An abundant summer resident of the eastern half of the state in the prairieregion. The area where it nests is almost coincident with that of the Chestnut-collared Longspur, but it has been found also in one locality in the mountainvalleys, west of the first ranges. This locality is in Broadwater County, abouttwo miles west of the ilissouri River and about fifteen miles south of Raders-burg. At this locality there is a small area where the conditionsare exactly those of the prairie benches in the prairie region, and tiiere theMcCown Longspur is a common breeding bird (Saunders, 1912f, ]). 217).
