Statue of patron saint in niche on C14th south porch of St Wystan's Church, Repton. The mausoleum of his grandfather (King Wiglaf of Mercia) in the crypt below the chancel of the Anglo-Saxon abbey church, became Wystan's shrine after he was 'martyred' in c 849. Photo taken in 2004, after the corroded metal sword had been restored in 2003 in memory of Douglas Carr (1920-91).
