Nestor, the wise old king of Pylos, advises Telemachus and offers a sacrifice to Athena before sending him on his way.

According to Greek mythology and legend, Telemachus was the son of Penelope and Odysseus, a Trojan War hero whose return trip home took 10 years. In the epic, Odyssey, by the Greek poet Homer, the goddess Athena appears to Telemachus and urges him to go to Sparta and Pylos to see if anyone at either place has any news about his father. Nestor, the wise old king of Pylos, offers Telemachus advice and has one of his sons accompany Telemachus on his journey. But before doing so, Nestor offers a sacrifice to Athena, as shown here.
