The oldest Czech coin dated from the 10th century on display at the anniversary exhibition in the National Museum (Národní muzeum) in Prague, Czech Republic. The medieval Bohemian silver coin (denarius) minted in Prague in the reign of Duke Boleslaus I the Cruel before 966 is considered to be the oldest preserved coin minted in territory which is now the Czech Republic. A cross with nine dotes is depicted in the coin with an inscription around 'BOLEZLAV DVX' ('Duke Boleslaus').
