Provenance: "Atlante Novissimo, illustrato ed accresciuto sulle osservazioni, e scoperte fatte dai piu' celebri e piu' recenti geografi", in Venezia MDCCLXXXII, presso Antonio Zatta con privilegio dell' Eccellmo Senato. Type: Antique 18th century Italian copperplate map with original hand colour. "Pennsylvania, New York, northern New Jersey, and the western parts of Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay and the Iroquois confederacy (the Six Nations)". Lakes Erie, Ontario and part of Lake Huron. The northern border of Pennsylvania with New York State is shown much further to the north than today's state line. The map also indicates the disputed border between the then colonies of New York and New Jersey, with the claim made by New York extending further to the south than today's established state line. A large number of forts and native American settlements are indicated on the map, including Fort Toronto.
