autumnal historic garden city margarethenhöhe built by margarethe krupp essen northrhine westphalia germany europe

The Margarethenhöhe housing estate, named after its benefactor, Margarethe Krupp, is generally acknowledged to be one of the finest examples of a garden city estate in Germany. Its architect Georg Metzendorf combine romantically designed facades with functional and comfortable facilities. After the Second World War the houses were rebuilt and in 1987 the estate was listed. It can now be seen and visited in its original state. The Ruhrland Museum offers guided tours of the estate. source =
