There are a few hiking trails inside the park with great views of the lake. Lake Sidney Lanier was created in 1956 and is formed primarily by the waters of the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers. The lake covers acres and has over 690 miles of shoreline. The lake is named after the poet Sidney Lanier.
