A German knightly sword,circa 1350. Strong double-edged blade with a long narrow fuller on each side. Within the fullers a finely engraved inscription "S+S" on one side and "+S+" on the opposite side. Quillons of round cross-section and small conical finials. Sturdy fullered tang,horizontally oval pommel with bevelled sides. Cleaned excavation find with very good substance.
