Poland, Warsaw: Monument to Janusz Korczak at the Jewish Cemetery on Okopowa Street.


Janusz Korczak or Henryk Goldszmit was a Polish educator, pediatrician and children's author (he is still best known for King Matt the First). On 5 August 1942 Dr. Korczak was sent with his orphans from the Warsaw Ghetto to the German Treblinka death camp and murdered in a gas chamber.
