Unveiled by Prince Charles in September 2005 the sculpture was created by Paul Day in honour of The Few The pilots of Great Britain and those from many other nations who defended Great Britain from the attempted German Invasion in 1940 which became known as the Battle of Britain The picture shows part of the sculpture depicts the ground engineers and armourers who worked day and night to keep the fighter aircraft airworthy
