Treasure Island, Stevenson's (1850-1894) classic adventure novel for children was first serialised as The Sea Cook: or, Treasure Island in Young Folks (1881-1882) and then published in book form in 1883. The frontispiece and half-title of the 1886 illustrated edition showing a map of the island of Hispaniola with instructions for finding pirates' treasure.
