Antlion larva. Close-up of an antlion (family Myrmeleontidae) larva on sandy ground, showing their large jaws (lower left). Antlions are a family of lacewing named for the aggressive predatory nature of their larvae, which dig pits to trap passing ants. The larvae live at the bottom of the pit and grab any ants that fall in, crushing them with their powerful jaws.
