Unemployment in Cleveland rises. Washington, , Jan. 17. Mayor Harold H. Burton of Cleveland, today told the Senate unemployment committee that unemployment in his city has risen from 89,1000 last October 15 to 175,000 on January 6 of this year. He submitted to the committee a three-point program for encouraging private employment, extending WPA and establishing state and local security systems for the permanent unemployed, 1/17/38
