The flowers are white, slightly tinged with rose, sepals and petals heavily blotched with red brown, reverse side heavily tinged with purple. Other high prices obtained were: O. crispum F. K. Sander, cSoo guineas; flowers of reddish port wine tint, margins and tips of petals and sepals white', tip white with dark blotches. O. crispum AlMier Hassell 470 guineas; O. crispum Pittia>, 400 guineas ; O. crispum Fearnlcy Sander, 300 guin- eas ; O. crispum Persimmon, 290 guineas. The sale attracted buyers from all parts of Europe, being the private collection of H. F. Pitt, an enthusiastic collector for many years.
