An Inuit hunter throws an inflated seal overboard.

An Inuit hunter throws an inflated seal overboard during a hunting expedition in Northwestern Greenland. The seal, attatched to the end of the harpoon rope, marks the location of the hit whale in addition to preventing it from diving. Many of the Inuit who live in this polar region still live a subsistence hunting lifestyle and practice ice age old traditions. During the brief summer they hunt Narwhal using only Sea Kayaks and harpoons, a skill fewer than 100 people in the world today still possess.
