The West front of Exeter Cathedral, Devon; England, UK, showing the Image Screen added to the nave of 1280+ around 1340 but not fully completed until 1470. The top tier includes Apostles, Evangelists & Old Testament Prophets with God the Father sitting above the door R of centre. On his R is King Richard II, mistakenly inserted in 1817 to replace a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary destroyed at the Dissolution. The tier below includes Kings, mainly of Judah, Confessors & Prophets supported by a row of Angels at the bottom. There are also carvings of plants & animals, & the whole screen was originally brightly coloured.
