Alison, who is now livinga retired life in Alvin but for more aquarter of a century was one of the enter-prising and ])rogressi\e farmers and stock-raisers of V^ermilion county, came to this])ortion of the state in the spring of 1864and has since been deeply interested in itsimpriivement along material, intellectualand moral lines. He is one of the worthycitizens of the locality that Ohio has fur-nished to this state. His birth occurred inJefferson county, Ohio, December 15. 1823,and is a representative of one of the oldfamilies of Virginia. His paternal grand-father, Ross Alison, lived in that state andthere Samuel Alison, the father of our sub-ject, was born and reared. As a companion. MRS. M. M. ALISON.
